Giant Easter Street Party

Each year in March, Adelaide's inner city churches join together on a Sunday afternoon to host a street party in Hindmarsh Square.

The aim of the event is to connect with city people, including politicians, business leaders, residents and tourists. The party has been described as a ‘pre-evangelism event’ and a great opportunity to build relationships with people in a friendly and relaxed way.

The event also demonstrates that churches are actively involved in the community.

The churches involved include Baptist, Lutheran, Roman Catholic and Uniting, with support from Mission Australia, the Bible Society and Fusion.

More than 3000 people turned out to enjoy the free barbecue, entertainment and a variety of children's activities at the 2008 party. Members of Bethlehem looked after a stall and also cooked for the barbecue.
