Our Congregation

  1. OPEN CHURCH during the Lenten season: Bethlehem Church will be open during weekdays in Lent, from 22 February until 1 April from 11am-3pm. Members and visitors are welcome to spend some time in the church for quiet meditation and reflection.
  2. The Next meeting of the Sanctuary Guild will be held in Bethlehem House, Tuesday 9th March at 7.30pm. A welcome is extended to all who would like to join us for an evening of Bible study and fellowship.
  3. Mid week Lenten Services: will continue this Wednesday March 10 up to and including Wednesday, 25 March, at 6pm. These services will focus on the passion narrative. Retiring offering for Lutheran Community Care.
  4. Heritage Bible Study Group Please note change of date. March meeting will be held on Saturday 13th March at 7pm. (Due to the Bethlehem Camp 5-8 March)
  5. Annual General Meeting of the congregation will be held on Sunday 14th March 2010 at 1pm. Please collect your Book of Reports and Agenda and Minutes from the ushers today.
    Car Parking availability for AGM The UPark on Flinders/Pirie will be open from 6am to 10pm and will also be used by people attending the Clipsal race. To ensure a parking space we advise you to stay in the city after the morning services.
  6. Giant Easter Street Party on 21st March. If you would like to help by helping on the BBQ or serving sausages,please contact Peter Schulz.
  7. Passover Dinner, 7-9pm, Bethlehem House, Friday 26th March. All welcome.

  12. 2010 SA-NT District Synod nominations: Nominations are now being invited for members who could represent this congregation at the 2010 SA-NT District Synod. The Synod this year will be held on August 20-21-22 at Immanuel College, Novar Gardens. Please prayerfully consider whom you would like to represent this congregation at both of this important convention, or even whether you are being called to serve as a delegate. I respectfully ask that nomination forms be received by Sunday 7th March and placed in the specially marked “Nominations” box, which has been placed in the church narthex. Elections for our District Synod delegates will be held at our AGM on March 14th. Nominations can still be received at the meeting. On behalf of Church Council, I thank you in anticipation of your support for this election process.

  14. Update of Bethlehem Directory Please let the office know of any changes to your address and phone number details by the end of March so we can publish a new directory. Forms on the narthex table. Place completed form in gold box.
  15. Name Tags: Members are encouraged to wear their name tags for the benefit of our new Pastor. If you need a badge, please fill in the blue form on the Narthex Table and place in the gold box. Payment will be on receipt of badge.

    • Eastern: usually meets on the fourth Sunday of the month. (Contact: Mervin)
    • Heritage Bible Study Group: normally meets on first Saturday of the month at St Peter’s chapel, Frew St Fullarton, at 7pm. (Contact: Jethro)
    • Masterplan: meets on Tuesdays (except for the 1st Tuesday of the month) at 11.30am in Bethlehem House. (Contact: Mervyn or the office)
    • North Eastern: meets fortnightly on Thursdays in member’s home. (Contact: Don & Dawn)
    • Plympton & nearby areas: meets first Sunday in the month. (Contact: Vida)
    • Wednesday Knights: weekly Bible study in The Stables, Wednesday evenings from 8.00pm. All welcome! (Contact: Mike)

  5. The Adelaide Deaf Community Church are celebrating their 35th Anniversary with a Service commencing at 10am, at 262 South Terrace, Adelaide on Sunday 21st March 2010. This will be followed by a light lunch. We have been advised that The Governor of SA, Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce and his wife will be attending the Service. Welcome to stay for lunch. For catering purposes, if staying for lunch, please check with the office on who to contact.
  6. Friends of Lutheran Archives meeting. Topic: University-trained Pastors in the Australian Lutheran Church. Speaker: Dr Vic Pfitzner. The story of the early Lutheran pastors from Kavel and Fritzsche on. At Bethlehem House, Sudholz Place, Adelaide, on Monday 22 March at 7.30 pm. Supper: Gold coin donation.
  7. Lutheran Nurses Association of Aust - next meeting is on Monday 22 March at 7.30pm. The topic is “Health care for the Homeless” Speaker: Meg Lewis RN. The venue is the SA District Office, 137 Archer St, North Adelaide. Enter through door at the rear. All welcome.
  8. Fullarton Lutheran Homes LWSA Auxiliary will present its MARCH MELODIES FESTIVAL, Tuesday 23 March at Fullarton Homes chapel, 14 Frew Street, Fullarton from 1.30 pm – 4 pm, featuring musical entertainment by Instrumentalists and Vocalists from Concordia College. ENTRY $8 includes afternoon tea. An enjoyable afternoon is guaranteed! Any donations such as biscuits, cakes, produce or gifts of money would be much appreciated.
