Music

Our worship has a rich heritage in all forms of church music. Music is a gift of God to his people. It is a joy to sing God’s praises and respond to his Word and the gracious gift of the sacraments with music and song from all times and places, countries and cultures.

Bethlehem is proud of this tradition. Music plays an important part in our worship, and our services are enriched by liturgies, choral works and hymns which express our faith.

In fact, since the time of Martin Luther, who took a strong interest in music and hymns, the Lutheran Church has been known as ‘the singing church’.

Luther wrote:

Music is God's greatest gift. Next to theology, no art is equal to music … which is able to give a quiet and happy mind.
